Jatinder Kumar Sardana, 79, of West Bloomfield, MI passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017 in Detroit, MI.

Jatinder, who was known as Jim by friends and family, was born in Multan, India (now Pakistan) on December 6, 1938. He moved to the United States in 1960 to pursue studies in mechanical engineering, and completed a bachelor of science degree at South Dakota State University in 1965.

After completing his degree, Jim returned to India to marry Manju and they moved to metro Detroit, where they had their son Neil in 1981 and raised him in their home in West Bloomfield, MI. Jim worked for Beaumont Services Company as a utility systems engineer supporting the Beaumont Hospital System for over 30 years.

In his free time, Jim enjoyed gardening, spending time with friends and family, was active in the Indian American community, and in his younger and older days he enjoyed going out to dance with his wife and their friends.

Jim was the loving husband of Manju for over 49 years, the beloved father of their son Neil, and a loyal friend to many who loved him and appreciated how he lived life to the fullest, and his uncompromising will to fight for his life. He will be missed by all his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

Visitation will be held at Fred Wood Funeral Home, Sunday from 10:00am-11:00am with a service following at 11:00am
