Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

As always, we are committed to maintain a healthy environment for you and your loved ones. In accordance with the CDC and the Medical Community we are taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the community we serve.

Our main concern is the health of our guests and staff at Fred Wood Funeral Home-Rice Chapel. To better accommodate and protect the community we serve, we are capable of limiting potential exposure to the virus by offering phone and email arrangements if you are unable to meet with us in person. As well we are sanitizing of our building regularly and rotating of guests during visitations.

As new developments arise we will keep our website as updated as possible. We are honored to continue to serve our community with dignity, respect, and flexibility. A funeral professional will be available by phone 24 hours a day with any questions, concerns, or services you may be inquiring about.

Funeral Home Capacity and Restrictions

Per Executive Order from the Governor of Michigan and for the health and safety of our guests and staff masks are required to be worn. If you enter our facility without a mask on you will be asked to please abide by the rule and put a mask on provided you are medically able to tolerate a mask.

We are holding visitations and funerals for families, but it looks a bit different. Our visitation and funeral capacity at Fred Wood Funeral Home-Rice Chapel as of April 2021 is continuing to be 25 individuals.

We are rotating guests in and out of visitation, allowing only 25 people in the room at a time. We are disinfecting high contact services regularly through visitation. Unfortunately our coffee lounge is NOT open to the public at this time.

Funerals held at the Fred Wood Funeral Home-Rice Chapel are private to the family only to maintain the 25-person capacity limit. If your family chooses a funeral service at church and/or a burial at a cemetery we will attain and assist in observing the regulations of that establishment.

FEMA is offering financial assistance to families impacted with the loss of a loved one from the Covid-19 virus. At the present time those eligible would have to have passes away January 20, 2020 to present. The cut-off for allowance of benefits is subject to change. Please see the attached link and contact us so we may provide your family with the financial information required to finalize the FEMA Application.
