Dolores (Sidlow) Schramm
Dolores, 89, known as “Dee” to her friends and colleagues and “Dolly” to family members, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2018 in Everett, Washington.
She was born on October 22, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, the youngest of seven children, all now deceased. She married Gerald Sidlow two years after completing high school and is survived by her daughter Christine, two grandchildren (Alex and Courtney) two great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Maxine, nieces and nephews and their families. Her son Robert predeceased her and had no children.
Her 30 year marriage to John Schramm gave her six step-children and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed many happy holiday celebrations with the whole group!
Dee especially loved to entertain and travel, activities that kept her and John active during their retirement years. Sadly, John passed away on April 3, 2017, and Dee followed him about a year later.
She and John met while employed at Ford Motor Company. She loved her career as executive secretary! Her bright smile and friendly demeanor earned her both promotions and countless friends. She loved parties, her family, and animals of all kinds, especially dogs.
Her last year of earthly life was spent close to her daughter in Everett, Washington, most recently at a wonderful caregiving adult home where she was loved and tended as her health declined. Her family has profound gratitude for her caregivers and the company of new friends who were a comfort to her.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation to be held on Friday, September 28, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Fred Wood Funeral Home at 36100 Five Mile Road in Livonia.
A funeral Mass will be said on Saturday at 12 noon at St. Kenneth’s Catholic Church, 14951 N. Haggerty Road in Plymouth in their social hall as the church is undergoing renovation.
