After graduating from Northwestern High School, Lois worked for the Detroit Edison Company. When Roger Holmes returned home from WWII, he and Lois courted and were married. They had two children and lived in Harper Woods. As time went by, they inherited the family home on the shores of Lake Huron in Port Sanilac, Mi. There the family spent many summers and enjoyed the rich history of the Holmes family in the area. Roger’s grandfather William Holmes was the last keeper of the Port Sanilac Lighthouse. The family to this day has beautiful relics of their family history.
After her husband’s passing in 1988, Lois spent 30 years as a widow. She moved to Denver Colorado to be closer to family. She moved several more times with her family, living in Santa Rosa, Ca. Chicago and Ft Myers Fla. Lois lived a full and rewarding life spending time with her grandchildren, as well as traveling and volunteering at local hospitals. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She will be laid to rest next to her husband of 41 years in the Port Sanilac Cemetery.
