Magdalena Cancino Garcia

Magdalena Cancino Garcia, 84, of Westland, MI, formerly of Detroit, passed away on December 18, 2018.

Born July 22, 1934, in El Sauz, Coahuila, Mexico, she is predeceased by her parents, Trinidad and Candelaria (Casarez) Cancino; brother Rosalio; sister, Minerva; and her late husband of 43 years, John Garcia, of Grosse Pointe Farms.

Magdalena loved the sun and would often travel Monterrey and Saltillo to visit family, until a few years before her passing. She also liked to garden and cook.

Survivors include her two children, John (Catrina) Garcia, and Maria Garcia; granddaughter, Megan; grandson, Ian, Jalen, and Jaleel; sisters, Belen and Dolores; and brothers, Eleuterio and Esteban; and many, nieces and nephews.

Her Memorial Mass will be Thursday, December 27, at 10:00 a.m. at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1721 Junction St., Detroit, 48209. Interment will be a private ceremony on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly, 48442.
