Marvel was born and raised on a farm in Iowa, the youngest of seven children. She played on the basketball team and was valedictorian of her high school class. She met John in Omaha and the two married after the Second World War.
While she was primarily a homemaker, Marvel was well-known for her banana bread recipe and for knitting hundreds of afghans. She was a member of the Livonia Women’s Club for many years. A longtime resident of Livonia, Marvel spent the past two years living at the Wellspring Nursing Home.
Marvel was very proud of her three daughters and so pleased that she was able to witness the weddings of all four of her grandchildren.
