Halmbacher, Mary age 93 of Livonia. Cherished wife of the late Wayne. Loving mother of Gary and Glenn (Julie). Proud grandma of Alexandria, Jacqualyn, Christopher, Nicholas and Natalia. Dearest aunt of Janice (John) Jameson, Judy (Fred) Cohen, Jim (Kimiko) Earl and Diane (Alan) Darge. Dear sister-in-law of John Detwiler. Also survived by many other loving family and friends.

Mary graduated high school at the age of 16, and earned a 3 year teaching degree from Wayne State University in 1943. She taught 2nd grade, becoming a housewife after Gary and Glenn were born. She was active in Cub Scouts as Den Mother and Pack Leader, and also PTA. Mary and Wayne were very active in the VFW Tutro Post 7546 all their lives, and traveled abroad extensively with the Builder's Exchange group in the 1970's while Wayne had his own construction business. When Wayne died in 1987, Mary went back to work at Montgomery Wards until they went out of business in 2001 when she was 78 years old. She loved to garden and grow plants; her home was like a greenhouse with beautiful flowers everywhere. She enjoyed years of fun and excitement with her five grandchildren, and couldn't stop talking about them.

In some of Mary’s parting words “I’ve lived a full life. I sang, I danced, I traveled and I exercised; what more could I have done?”
