Anna Iannarelli DiVetta gained her wings on January 10, 2023. Age 98 of Livonia, MI. Cherished wife of the late Luciano. Beloved mother of Anna Maria (Kevin) Mercure, Joanne (Geoff) Davies, and Jemma (Salvatore) DeMarco. Beloved Nonna of Luciana Davies (fiancé Shen Huang), Megan DeMarco (fiancé Seth Chavel), Adrian Davies (fiancée Madison Hostetter),

Christian Davies, Joey DeMarco, Carly Mercure, Ryan DeMarco, and Jason Mercure. Beloved sister of

Maria Grazia Iannarelli and the late Giovanni and Antonio-Marino. Loving daughter of the late Antonio Iannarelli

and Carlotta D’Aquanno.

Born in Villa Santa Lucia, Italy on May 9, 1924, she was the first-born child of the late Antonio Iannarelli

and Carlotta D’Aquanno. She left school at age 10 to care for her younger siblings, as was a custom of

the time. Later, she endured the hardships that the Nazis and the Second World War unleashed on her

house, city, and home country.

On April 22, 1956, she married Luciano DiVetta in a small ceremony in Piumarola, Italy. Later that year,

Luciano left for America in search of a better life for his new bride. In March of 1957, she welcomed

their first daughter Anna Maria. In early 1959, she was finally able to join her husband in Detroit,

Michigan. Later that year, their second daughter Joanne was born. She and Luciano purchased a small

bungalow in Dearborn to raise their family. In 1964, their last daughter Jemma was born, making their

family complete.

In 1989, she and Luciano went back home to Italy, building a house in Piedimonte San Germano, where

they would host their daughters and growing family each summer. She and Luciano enjoyed 52 years of

marriage before Luciano’s death in 2009 from Alzheimer’s disease. She spent her remaining years

surrounded by her children and grandchildren in Michigan, and her sister and many nieces and nephews

upon her yearly trips back to Italy.
