Barbara Sarah age 85 of Livonia. Cherished wife of the late Edwin. Beloved mother of Scott, Edwin (Danette), Kathy Nofs (Donald Stevens) and Thomas (Jennifer). Proud grandma of Hunter, Austin, Sarah, Brandon, Peyton, Dasi, Shuki and great-grandma of Skylar, Blake and Violet. Loving sister of Bill (Vicki) Rothley and the late Jake Rothley. Dear sister-in-law of Patricia Rothley. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family, friends and many that called her Mom.

Barbara J. Sarah, born August 7, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. A proud graduate of Mackenzie High School’s Class of 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, the love of her life, Edwin, in 1959, and together they built a life centered on family, tradition and generosity.

In 1965, Barbara and Ed settled in Livonia, where they raised their four children: Scott (1961), Eddie (1963), Kathy (1965), and Tommy (1970). Barbara was a loving and selfless matriarch whose home was always open to anyone in need. Many people called her “Mom.” She kept family traditions alive through her baking, annual Christmas parties, and the treasures in her china cabinet, each with its own story.

Barbara worked as a beloved lunch lady at Holmes Middle School, known for her kindness and quiet generosity, and worked at Jacobson’s restaurant. A passionate Michigan football fan, Scout mom, sports mom and grandma, and neighborhood pillar, she found joy in nurturing her family and community.

Barbara’s greatest joy came from her family, including her seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her love, wisdom, and traditions leave a legacy of warmth and inspiration that will live on in the countless lives she touched.
