Bette Watson Obituary

Watson, Bette (Betsy) age 84 of Wixom.  Cherished wife of Bill for over 52 years. Loving sister of Bill Pesola, Barbara (Frank) Muser and JoAnn (Henry) Willson.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many other loving family and friends.  Betsy loved being around her family and friends more than anything and was always at every family event.  She loved attending the kids sporting events.  You may consider her their biggest fan as she often was the first one to arrive to get the best seat in the house and save seats for the rest of the family.  She was usually the last one to leave both family and sporting events as she loved to visit.  She became a member of the Yankee Air Museum in 1986. In the late 80’s she would fly around the United States with the crew helping with everything and anything that needed to be done on the planes.  Her favorite plane was the        B-17. When Yankee Air Museum purchased the B-17, she was the one who cleaned the inside of the wings as she was the only one small enough to fit inside.  She helped to start the education program in the early 90’s and she was instrumental for the scholarship programs that she got off the ground for Yankee Air Museum.  In 1999, Yankee Air Museum started their first “Air Display” which eventually evolved into the Thunder Over Michigan Air Show.  She has been the VIP tent coordinator at Thunder Over Michigan with her team from 2004-2019.  She did many wonderful things for the Museum and Air Show over the years.  She will be remembered as selfless, warm hearted, kind, generous and most of all a beautiful person.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends as well as the staff and volunteers at Thunder Over Michigan and Yankee Air Museum.  Due to COVID restrictions, services for Betsy were private.  Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.  There will be a “celebration of life” held at a later date.  Memorial Contributions may be made to Yankee Air Museum 47884 D St., Belleville, MI 48111.  Please include Bette’s name in the memo section of the check.
