Bill Massey Obituary

William Massey

Bill passed away on February 6, 2025, at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Judy Massey and the late MaryAnn Massey. Loving father of Susan L. Massey and Michael (JoAnne) Massey. Step-father of Jeff Jones, Nicki (Sean) Slade, and Jill Jones. Cherished grandpa of Michael (Cara) Jacoboni, Steven Massey, and Brenden Massey. Proud great-grandpa “Ole Papa” of Michael Jacoboni, Angelo Jacoboni, Anthony Jacoboni, Donnie Jacoboni, and Baby J. Jacoboni arriving in May. Dear brother of Ron (Pat) Massey and the late Jerry (Kris) Massey. He leaves behind many other loving family members and friends.

Bill was born on October 14, 1940, in Chestnut Mound, Tennessee, to his late parents Frank and Robbie Massey.  He started his educational career attending Cooley High School in Detroit Michigan, where he graduated in 1959. His pursuit of knowledge and self-improvement led him to earn an Associate's Degree from Henry Ford College, laying the groundwork for a successful career. For 32 years, he proudly served as an Income Tax Investigator for the City of Detroit, showcasing his commitment to public service and his keen analytical skills. Bill’s professional path continued at Franklin Bank, where he held the position of Vice President for 12 years.

Outside of his professional life, Bill had a zest for life that was evident in all he did. He was a big fan of Detroit sports, passionately cheering for his teams. Golfing and fishing were among his favorite pastimes, offering him peace and enjoyment in the great outdoors. In his younger years, he was an avid bowler, often found at the lanes with friends and family. He relished both local and out-of-town adventures, embracing new experiences and creating lasting memories with loved ones.

His greatest joy in life was his family. At the age of 21, he married his first wife MaryAnn and celebrated 40 beautiful years of marriage until her passing on June 10, 2002. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. In 2003, he remarried and would have celebrated 22 wonderful years of marriage to his beloved wife, Judy, this coming August. He was a devoted father, proud grandfather, and “Ole Papa", always putting his family first and inspiring those around him with his unwavering support and kindness.

The impact Bill had on his family and community is immeasurable. He was a man of integrity and warmth. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion that will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.
