Carlene Ann Smith

Carlene Ann Smith, age 85, longtime resident of Livonia, Michigan passed away on July 11, 2025 at Angela Hospice Care Center in Livonia.  She was born on September 10, 1939 in Detroit, MI to parents Carl and Juanita Dronkowski. Carlene was preceded in death by Don Smith, her beloved husband of 61 years and dear son, Scott Smith. She is survived by her daughters Dana Lutzo (Mark), Jodi Kozloff (Steve), Wendy Parrelly (Tom) and Sandi Trenkle (James), her siblings Sandra Santimore (late Grant), Dr. William Dronkowski (Kate) and David Dronkowski (Laura).

Carlene’s nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren were the absolute joys of her life.  In fact, she had stated many times that all she ever wanted in life was to be a grandmother. Aside from being the best grandma ever, Carlene was everyone’s friend.  Her smile and personality never failed to win over complete strangers and crying babies. She lit up a room. Everywhere she went, people remembered Carlene.  She was a creative person and enjoyed decorating and redecorating the house she shared with her husband Don over the years. Planning and hosting parties was a passion of Carlene’s, most notably the annual Christmas Eve Party which was a 55 year tradition. She will always be remembered for special holiday gatherings and bringing family and friends together.
