Charles "Chuck" W. Turnbow passed away peacefully at his home in Livonia on Friday September 1, 2023 at the age of 94. Charles was born and raised in Smithville, Arkansas by his parents Charles and Pearl (Rudy) Turnbow. As a young man he proudly left to serve in the Army during the Korean War. Upon his return to the states Charles relocated to Michigan where he resided for the remainder of his life, although he never lost his charming southern drawl.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gustavus and sister Ina Lee. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Barbara Ann (née Kelly), daughter Lauren (John) Falcusan, granddaughters Jordan (Valtteri) Filppula and Jansan (Chandler) Rhoads, great grandsons Jaxson and Easton Rhoads, and great granddaughter Vera Jo Filppula. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law James and Diane Kelly, nephews Michael and James Kelly and Sloan Turnbow, as well as nieces Kathleen and Vicki Kelly.
After becoming ill, Charles was lovingly cared for at home by his wife, Michael and Vicki Kelly, special friend Kim Fitzgerald, with assistance from Trinity Home Hospice and special caregiver Belinda Swain. Charles will be remembered by all those who knew and loved him as a wonderfully kind and gentle man with a lovely sense of humor, glass half full outlook, and a devoted animal lover.
A private cremation has taken place.
