Cynthia (Cindy) Ling, born Cynthia Joy Miller, was the beloved daughter of William Jefferson Miller Sr. and Billye Faye Hammond in addition to the sister of Patricia Conover and Stephen Miller. Raised in Dearborn Heights as a native Michigander, Cindy graduated from Dearborn High School. Shortly after, she met the love of her life, John Ling, through a shared acquaintance. That chance meeting blossomed into a beautiful 45-year journey together. Cindy and John were married in 1984, welcomed their first fur baby George, and traveled to destinations like Grand Cayman and Hawaii before settling into their life together. In 1990, Cindy entered nursing school at Schoolcraft College while expecting their first child, Chelsea. With John’s steadfast support, she graduated with high honors and launched a nursing career that would span 35 years. She cared for patients at Annapolis Hospital, Oakwood of Dearborn, St. Mary’s of Livonia, and Ascension/Henry Ford of Novi—all while raising two more daughters, Megan and Madison. Cindy was deeply passionate about healthcare and providing safe, compassionate service to her patients. She pursued continuing education throughout her career, earning her BSN and MSN from South University and completing numerous inservice trainings. One of her most enduring contributions was her service on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic, where she stood beside her fellow nurses and physicians with unwavering strength and grace. Her knowledge, empathy, and dedication touched countless lives in such an unprecedented times. Cindy’s fierce, loving, and courageous spirit will be remembered by many and carried forward by those she loved most: Her devoted husband of 41 years, John; Her daughters Chelsea, Megan, and Madison; Her sons-in-law, whom she cherished like her own, Mitch and Travis; Her beloved grandson and littlest best friend, Jonny; And her loyal companions, Gruffy, Gus, and Gary. Her legacy lives on in every life she healed, all the laughs and love she shared, and every life she helped bring into the world.
