David Richard Butka

David Richard Butka, age 59, passed away January 6th, 2026. David was born in 1966 in Garden City and grew up alongside his two brothers and sister, whom he loved deeply. After attending both Michigan State University and Oakland University, he became a physical therapist, dedicating his career to giving back to his patients. As a lifelong sports fan, he could always be found cheering on his sons at their basketball games as kids or refereeing one of many different high school sports. Above all else, he treasured spending time with family, loved to enjoy a sweet treat, and was quick to share a beer and company with all.

Dear father of Nate and Justin (Rachel), loving son of Rita (and the late Richard), beloved brother of Dennis (Michelle), Marvin, and Lynne (Richard) Williams, and cherished grandfather of Carter. David is forever loved and so deeply missed, but will live on through the many memories and lives he touched during his time.

Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 3:00 - 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM
