Dolores "Dolly" (Schroeder) Shoemaker

Dolores “Dolly” Jean Shoemaker left us at the age of 90 on March 2, 2025. Dolly was
born on June 12, 1934. She met the love of her life, her handsome blue-eyed Reynold
“Sonny” Shoemaker whom she married in 1956. Dolly is predeceased by her husband,
Sonny, her parents, Herbert and Theresa; her siblings, Herbert, Richard, and Gail. She
is survived by her two sons, Larry (Susan), Robert (Karen); her five grandchildren,
Jonathan, Trevor (Courtney), Jenna (Dylan), Jessica (Skyler), and Marissa (Brandon);
and her four great grandchildren, Claire, Sophia, Luna and Ava. She is also survived by
dozens of nieces, nephews and friends and she was often affectionately known as
“Grandma Dolly” or “G-Doll”. She had a heart of gold and was always ready to give of
her talents to many causes. She worked long after retirement age for a dialysis unit,
and volunteered many hours to assist her patients.
She leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter and unforgettable stories. She had
endless energy and was well known for her cleaning skills. She was always ready for
an adventure, especially if it involved a slot machine. She could stay up all night and
play fueled by excitement, whether winning or losing. Her unique blend of naivety and
innocence, often led to the kind of “silly Dolly stories” that will be retold again and again.
Though she will be missed, the legend of Dolly will continue to bring smiles, laughter
and maybe even a little luck to all of us who remember her.
