Donna Fay Ammerman passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 24, 2025,
surrounded by her family.
Donna was born on January 28, 1948, in Louisville, Kentucky, to August and Jeanette
Kaelin. She spent a joyful childhood there and was especially close with her older sister,
Pam Hall (Bob), whom she deeply loved. Louisville remained dear to her heart
throughout her life as it was also where she met the love of her life, Chuck Ammerman.
Donna and Chuck were married on November 20, 1970, shortly after making life
changing decisions to commit their lives to Jesus Christ. That moment marked the
beginning of a profound transformation; one rooted in God’s unwavering faithfulness.
Their journey also took them to Birmingham, Michigan, where Donna grew her family,
ran multiple businesses, and built strong relationships with her church community.
Chuck preceded her in death in 2004, a loss Donna bore with grace and unshakable
faith.
Donna was a devoted and deeply loving mother to Aaron Ammerman (Brittany) and
Matt Ammerman (Becky) and took immense pride in being “Granny” to both Isaac and
Asha, who brought her great joy.
In 1975, Donna was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. It was a battle she faced with
incredible strength and quiet dignity for five decades. Despite the hardships, she never
wavered in her belief that God was walking with her. Her resilience, optimism, and daily
courage became a source of inspiration to everyone who knew her.
Private ceremonies will be held in both Kentucky and Michigan to celebrate her life and
legacy. She will be buried next to Chuck in Bad Axe, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to Nazareth
Home in Louisville, Kentucky. The family also extends their heartfelt gratitude to the
compassionate Nazareth Home staff who cared for Donna with tenderness and love
during her time as a resident as well as Sharon Zaring Carr, Bob and Martha Cushman,
and the numerous friends and caregivers who navigated life with her over the years.
