Age 93, of Livonia, passed away Monday January 2, 2023. She was born February 16, 1929, in Jackson, MI, and raised in Grass Lake, Brooklyn, and Concord, MI. She was the daughter of farmers Raymond and Doris (Horton) Beemer. Edith graduated from Concord High School in 1946. Beloved wife of Milton Ray Burnett, whom she met at the diner at which they both worked in Concord, and married on October 4, 1947, in Jackson, MI. Ray preceded her in death in 1991. Loving mother of Neal (Diane) Burnett of Hartland, MI, Randy (Carolyn) Burnett of Novi, MI, and Dale Burnett of Brighton, MI. Loving grandmother of Carrie, Mitch (Ceilidh), Leanna, and Holly. Edith was the 4th oldest of 12 siblings, and is survived by Elwyn Beemer, Alice (Clifford) Bush, Donald Beemer, Delbert (Donna) Beemer and Howard (Phyllis) Beemer, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Douglas, Ray, Irving, and Albert Beemer, and sister Thelma Burrell. After raising her three children, Edith worked at Michigan Bell for 21 years before retiring in 1994. After retirement, Edith enjoyed puzzles, Rummikub and crafting. She was always coming up with new, creative ideas for crafts, which she shared with family and friends, as well as crocheting blankets, hats and mittens for charitable organizations. Edith was very active as a member of Memorial Church of Christ for 62 years, having served in the Choir, as well as being a member of the church’s Women’s Council.
