Emma Eizak Obituary

Emma Jean Eizak

Age 91, passed away peacefully May 6, 2020 at home. She was born in Kentucky on May 9, 1928 to Thaddeus and Nora Perkins. She spent her childhood growing up in Soddy Daisy, TN before moving to Detroit, MI where she met and married Leon Eizak.

For her working career she was one of the original “Rosie the riveters” as a welder in a factory during World War 2 and then she joined the Detroit Public Schools working with kids where she retired in 1992.

Her whole life was always about helping others.  Without exception she would ask for people to let her know if they needed help; even if it was to cook a meal, to help watch and spend time with family and friends, clean, and even offer money if needed.  She once even moved back to Tennessee to help out her sister for a couple of years.

She truly enjoyed the simple things in life; cooking, whether it was her renowned fried chicken (yes fried chicken!!!) or her authentic Italian spaghetti and meatballs (she would spend hours making the sauce), sewing (her favorite pastime), singing, watching baseball, and spending time with her loving family. Emma Jean loved life and loved everyone.

She always had the amazing ability to see the good in people and loved animals too.  She would often crack a joke, tell you one of her many stories about life and family, or just share a laugh to make you feel better.  Even friends of the family came to call her “Grandma Jean” due to her warmth, kindness, and love.  One of the first things people would ask is “How is Grandma Jean doing?” when they haven’t seen you in a while.  She will be greatly missed by the many, many lives she has touched over the years.

Loving mother of Dan Theodore (Fredda) Eizak, Theresa Ilene (Dave) Klekamp, and Gary Dale (Anita) Eizak Sr. Cherished grandma of Britt, Ginny, Jennifer, Kit, Scott, Gary Jr., Dena, Jillian, Katie, Ashley, Jake, Cody, and Alyssa; great-grandma of 12. Emma Jean leaves behind many other loving family members and friends, and she now reunited with those who went before her.

Private services will be held.
