Ernest A. Wallace Jr. Age 71 of Plymouth. Cherished husband of Ann Marie for 13 years. Beloved father of Erin Ann (Brandon) Woodward and Brent (Cristee) Wallace. Proud Papa of Brayden and Caylee. Loving brother of Michael Wallace, Patricia (Ed) Thomas, and the late Pamela Ann (Gordon) Arnold and Thomas Wallace. Former spouse of Jimmie Sue (John) Lasky. Preceded in death by his loving parents Arthur and Flora Belle Zitterbart. Also survived by many other loving family and friends.
Ernie was born in Detroit and lived there until the family moved to McGuire AFB in New Jersey then McCord AFB in Washington. Next came Garden City, Michigan where Ernie attended Garden City West High School where he became Vice-President of the Senior Class and Co-Captain of the football team. During this time he made friendships that would last his entire life. As an adult Ernie also resided in the states of Florida and Texas.
Ernie attended Schoolcraft College and Madonna University where he completed courses in Criminal Justice. He worked at Kelsey-Hayes on the production line and as a laborer. After attending the Wayne County Police Academy he became a Police Officer with the Inkster Police Department where he was promoted to Detective. After a decade there he became the Regional Security Manager for Highland Appliance; Operations Manager for MPG/Checker Cab; and District Manager, Executive Protection, and National Manager of Field Safety at Sears Holdings.
In his personal life, Ernie enjoyed practical jokes, impersonations, and he was always looking for creative ways to bring joy to others - to him, laughter was as powerful as love. Many would agree, he was the life of every gathering. He loved spending time with family and friends, traveling, and following Michigan Wolverine football. His kids looked up to him, and his grandkids adored him. He was a big brother, and looked out for every member of his family. If advice was needed, it was a given to call Ernie. He was a lover of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, kayaking, and golfing. He was fit and healthy, and prioritized staying young. Ernie’s departure brings a tremendous void to all who knew and loved him, but we will continue his legacy of laughter and love as our hearts overflow with tender memories of his beautiful life.
Please keep the Wallace family in your thoughts and prayers. A private memorial gathering will take place at a later date.
