Evans Nicholas Bageris went to be with his Lord and Savior and daughter, Stephanie, on July 10, 2022 at the age of 87. He is survived by his loving family, including his devoted wife of 62 years, Diane, his sons Michael (Joane) Bageris, John (Leisa) Bageris, Andrew (Kellie) Bageris, and his son-in-law, Jeffrey Holstad. He is also survived by his brother Plato (Connie) Bageris, many nieces and nephews, and his grandchildren, whom he adored: Nicholas, Luke, Alec, Jennifer, Elaine, Matthew, Jake, Zachary, William, and Mitchell. Evans was proceeded in death by his parents, Sam and Eugenia, his brother, George (Eunice) Bageris, and his sister, Christine (late George) Dales.
Evans was born on October 27, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from the University of Detroit with a degree in Political Science, and he received his Master of Education from Eastern Michigan University. He met his wife at a church dance in 1955, and they married on December 27, 1959. Together they had four children and they raised their family in Livonia, Michigan. Evans served in the army in Germany, and he was an avid WWII historian. He taught mathematics for 36 years in Farmington Public Schools and spent 20 years as the director of Farmington Parks and Recreation. He was an active member and founding father at his church, Nativity of the Virgin Mary, and he was proud to be Greek Orthodox. He lived with great faith, emphasized his values of hard work, integrity, and loyalty, and above all, he loved his family. He loved playing baseball, coaching his son’s youth sports teams, and watching his kids and grandchildren play sports. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and he will be greatly missed by so many.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022
3:00pm to 9:00pm with a Trisagion Service at 7:00pm
