George Fultz Murphy

Age 92 of Livonia. Beloved husband of the late Marie for over 66 wonderful years. Cherished father of George (Cheryl), Colleen (Ric) Misiak, Kevin (Jane), Brian (Robin), and Doug. Proud grandfather of Matt, George, David, Shannon, Danielle, Nicole, Beth Ann, Meghan, Andrew, Collin, Katlin, Kyle, Keri, and Kristin, and great grandfather of 25. Dearest brother of the late Muriel, Virginia, Shirley, Donald and Thelma.

Born and grew up in Detroit in Asbury Park.  Attended Cooley High School.  Married to Marie on October 21, 1950 at St. Paul of the Cross.  Worked at Ford Motor Company as a Quality Control Engineer for 30 years.  Loved his job.  Retired from Ford’s in 1990. He and Marie moved to Livonia in 1952, had 5 children in 5 years and never moved from the home they built.  George was an active parishioner of St. Genevieve Parish in many areas, particularly the choir.  After retirement he and Marie travelled the country and spent winters in West Palm Beach.

George loved his family and friends; being a very social person.  He loved seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, lighting up whenever they came by. Cherished family traditions; Thanksgiving & the Thanksgiving Day Parade, Christmas Eve, 4th of July Camping in Petoskey, Easter with family in Florida and New Year’s Eve Parties.  Favorites were Marie’s Chicken & Dumplings, Sander’s hot fudge cream puffs, donuts, Bates Burgers at midnight, long days at the beach, the RV, dancing, cigars and manhattans.

Visitation will take place Sunday, September 20, 2020 

2:00pm until 7:00pm
