Giovanni (John) Zago

Age 80, of Livonia, Michigan passed away on March 12, 2021. John is survived by his wife Carol, son Michael, daughter-in-law Kathy, granddaughters Lauren and Sophia, brothers Tino (Dolores, dec.) and Roger, brother-in-law & sister-in-law Brian & Joan Wake, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.  He was preceded in death by his son Christian, mother Eva and father Hector. 

John was born in Crespano del Grappa, Italy on May 23, 1940 to Hector and Eva Zago.  John came to the United States in 1948. He graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit followed by Lawrence Tech University in 1967. John spent over 50 years working in the plumbing industry, making many lifelong friends.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, he treated everyone close to him as if they were family. His Italian heritage was an important part of his life and after retirement, he returned to visit Italy every year.  John inspired everyone he knew with his passion for world travel and adventure.  For example, he climbed Mt Kilimanjaro, visited the Galapagos Islands, Machu Picchu, China,  Thailand, India, Turkey, Iceland, Italy and many other countries in Europe.  John also enjoyed spending time in Pentwater, Michigan with his family, especially his granddaughters.   

A memorial Mass will be held
