James H. Wood

Age 90, of Livonia, died peacefully on December 6, 2023.

James was born on January 13, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan to his late parents Herbert and Ruth (nee. Pashka) Wood.  He served his country in the Korean War as a civil engineer, and was honorably discharged in 1960. 

James married Loretta C. (nee. Lopus) on February 15, 1958 at St. Suzanne Church in Detroit, MI.  He enjoyed a 30+ year career with Detroit Public Works as a Registered Land Surveyor, followed by a career as a licensed land surveyor at McNeely & Lincoln Associates of Livonia, MI.

Beloved husband of Loretta C. for 65 glorious years. Devoted father of Catherine (John) Nolan, Thomas Wood, Michael Wood, and the late Kenneth and Carol Wood. Father-in-law of Barbara Wood. Proud grandfather of Jennifer (Joe) Lambert, Rachel (Everett) Bowers, John Nolan, Kenneth Wood, Sarah (Ryan) Wood, Steven Wood and great-grandfather of Zoey Lambert and Taylor Lambert.  Dear brother of Barbara Blue, Jean Zubal, and the late Jessie (Curt) Starke and John “Richie” Wood. Dearest brother-in-law of Victor Blue, James Zubal, and Helen Wood. James leaves behind many other loving family members and friends.

The funeral service will be officiated by

Pastor Drexel Morton of St. John Lutheran Church in Bridgewater, Michigan.

James’ male grandchildren will act as his pallbearers.

Interment will follow the service at Parkview Memorial Cemetery, Livonia, Michigan

In lieu of flowers, contributions suggested to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
