Jerry Lee Smith was born on March 10, 1946 in Fort Payne, Alabama. His parents were
Charles Johnson Smith and Ola Mae Berry Smith. He left his earthly home with loved ones by
his side, on March 14, 2022 in Royal Oak, Michigan, after a brief illness.
He was married on September 15, 1979 to Sarah Faye Johnsonbaugh Eckley. They
were married 31 years, when she passed on April 20, 2011. He was employed at Ford Romeo
Plant from January 1966 until he retired. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling,
riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Robert “Bobby” Smith and Tammy (Luis) Castaneda. His
grandchildren Tobi (Amber) Cedar, Nikki Smith, Rachel Smith, Roger Budnick Jr, Nicholas
Budnick, and Adrianna Budnick. Great grandchildren Sidney, Alix, and Lamarah. Step children
Eric (Dawn) Eckley, Kelly Schaub, and Shirley Schaub. Step grandchildren, Christina
(Kristopher) Moore, Jaclyn (Joe) Noe, Justin Schaub, Joesph Schaub, Johnmichael “Johnny”
Schaub, Kyle (Ashley) Eckley, Nicholas Eckley, Victoria Eckley, and Jessie James Eckley. Step
grandchildren Jermaine, Cherysh, Kylie, Adelynn, Madison, Sophia, Jeremyah, Summer, Jayce,
Sean, Estella, Nova, and Payton. His brother Charles Rayford (Carolyn) Smith of Section,
Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his son Richard Anthony Smith, sister Shelby Jean Moore,
brother in law Bill Vernon Moore, his nephew Charles David Smith, his great nephew Nathan
Travis Holley, and his parents Charles Johnson Smith and Ola Mae Berry Smith.
Visitation will be on Saturday March 19, 2022 at W.T. Funeral Home

Visitation for friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m.
Funeral services will be held on
