Kathleen Nowak

Kathy passed away unexpectedly on August 27, 2021. Kathy was preceded in death by her father Stanley Nowak; Mother – Helen Nowak; brother – Jay Nowak; Sister – Lenore McCombs.  Kathy is survived by her brothers and sisters; Thaddeus Nowak (Carol), Michelle Moore (Jim), Michael Nowak (Andie), Joseph Nowak (Rhonda), William Nowak (Patricia), Mary Thomson (David), and Steven Nowak (Corinne). Kathy is survived by her nieces and nephews; Teari Haefs, Kevin Nowak, Paul Nowak, Simone Steadman, Sarah Nowak, Andrew Nowak, Joshua Thomson, Alexandra Thomson, Christopher Nowak, Geni Nowak, Emily Nowak, Vincent Nowak, Evan Nowak, Stan Nowak, Ian Nowak, Shannon Lee, Robin Wehab and Heather Mauch, and many great nieces and nephews.  Kathy attended Wayne State University from 1973 - 1979 and received a Bachelor of Arts (BA), with studies in German and pre-med. Activities and Societies: German Cultural Club; South End; Newman Catholic Center, Pre-med, Germanic languages and literature, psychology.  Kathy attended the Sacred Heart Major Seminary from 1987 – 1990 and studied Theology and Pastoral Ministry.  One of Kathy’s joys in life from an early age was the theatre.  She enjoyed traveling to Stradford, Canada, attending local theatres and her nieces and nephews school plays.  She enjoyed reading and watching science fiction, particularly Star Trek. Kathy had a passion for writing which continued until her passing.  She got great enjoyment in doing crafts and sharing them with everyone. Kathy’s greatest pleasure in life was spending time with her nieces and nephews who brought her such joy and spending time with her large family. Kathy had a witty sense of humor and an indelible spirit and strength.  She holds a special place in many hearts and will be greatly missed.
