Shannon, Laura Obituary

Laura Shannon Age 76 of Livonia, passed away on June 5, 2026. Cherished wife of Terry for 56 loving years. Beloved mother of Greg (Monica), Dan (Lisa), and Katie (Jeff) Lang. Treasured grandma of Noah, Basie, Austin, and Paige. Dear sister of Don (the late Rosaline) Urbansok.

Laura Shannon passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Lorain, Ohio, Laura spent her childhood in Elyria before attending Bowling Green State University. After graduation, she began her life's journey with her husband, Terry, while he served as a pilot in the United States Air Force. Their early years together included time living in Spain and raising their young family before eventually settling in Michigan.

Driven by her passion for helping others, Laura returned to school to pursue a career in education. She dedicated more than 30 years to teaching special education, serving students and families in both the Walled Lake and Romulus school districts. Laura was known for her patience, compassion, and smile.

Outside the classroom, Laura found joy in tending her home garden, where she lovingly nurtured flowers and was a devoted dog lover. For many years she volunteered at the Huron Valley Humane Society, where she enjoyed walking dogs and finding adoption homes.

Above all, Laura treasured time with her family and was a proud and enthusiastic supporter of her grandchildren, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer them on at sporting events, dance recitals, and other activities.

Laura will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, gentle spirit, and dedication to her family, students, and community. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through her teaching, volunteer work, and love.
