Lois Arlene Betts
Lois Arlene Betts passed away on February 23rd, 2024 at the age of 88. Lois was born to parents Wilfred and Evelyn Launiere on October 1st, 1935 in Grand Rapids. She is preceded by her beloved husband Ronald Betts; 2 brothers and a sister; Donald Launiere, Dorothy Launiere Westveer and Raymond Launiere; as well as 2 grandchildren: Mark Smith and Mary Elizabeth Cude. Loving mother of Debra (Mark) Smith, Linda “Lynne” (John) Jandasek, Patricia “Patti” (Scott) Ripley, and the late Cheryl Sonberger (survived by William Sonberger). Adored grandmother of 21, great-grandmother of 28, and great-great grandmother of 1. She leaves behind many other loving family members and friends.
Lois moved with her family to Detroit in the 6th grade. Lois met Ronald Betts hanging at a spot they called Little Tasty’s. They were married in 1953. Ronald and Lois had 4 beautiful girls together. They moved to Livonia in 1973. She enjoyed listening to music, shopping, playing dominoes and cards, reading the newspaper and watching classic movies. As a Grandma, she spoiled her grandchildren with love and good food. Lois took pride in her amazing cooking and hosted unforgettable family gatherings. Lois’ most notorious pet was an orange cat named Tom who lived to be 22. She shared the word of God with just about everyone she talked to. When not at home, Lois could be found having a meal at her favorite spots; Sandy’s, Kirby’s or Steve’s. Lois will be remembered for her strength in the face of hard times, for her laughter especially at herself and for being the best conversationalist.
