Lucille McNamara Obituary

Lucille McNamara, 99, passed away peacefully Friday, April 10, 2026.  She was the beloved wife of Edward H. McNamara, who preceded her in death.  Lucille was born August 7, 1926 to Violet (Renwick) Martin and Fred Martin.  She grew up in Detroit, and after her marriage spent many years building a family, living both in Livonia and Plymouth.

Lucille was a wonderful mother to her five children, and the supportive spouse to Ed in his long terms as mayor of Livonia and Wayne County Executive.  She had many interests and hobbies including bridge, golf, bowling, classical piano, oil paintings, reading novels-especially westerns, figure skating, singing in the Sweet Adelines -  and following the Red Wings and Tigers.  She especially loved traveling and going to the family cottage.

Family members who mourn her passing include her children - Collen, Michael (Annette), Nancy (Lawrence Ponka), Kevin (Aida), and Terence (Mary).  She was the proud grandmother of Lillian, Andrew, Cullan, Marissa, and Chole.  Lucille was the treasured aunt of Erin Powell, the late Patrick Feys, Peggy (Robert) Gamble, Maureen (Bart) Norman, Kathleen (Rod) Nelson, Paul (Judy) Feys, Dan (Jill) Feys, John (Judy) Feys, Darice Nicoletti, Richard Conner, Bobby (Marcy) Sikora, and Jerry Sikora.  Lucille's dear sister Germain (Richard) Conner, passed away four days after Lucille.

Donations in her memory may be made to the The Lucille McNamara Foundation, Madonna University 3660 Schoolcraft Rd., Livonia, MI 48150.  This academic scholarship goes to selected hearing impaired students or to future teachers of the Deaf and hearing impaired.  Lucille lived a full and happy life.  She will be deeply missed.
