Marjorie Leora Miller
Marjorie Leora Miller passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on March 14, 2020, surrounded by close family members. Born on the family farm in Reynoldsville, Pa. on July 18, 1931, she was 1 of 8 siblings. Life on the farm was memorable. She graduated from Big Run High School in 1949, and was accepted into nursing school at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. She graduated with a degree in registered nursing in 1953. She then moved to Detroit to begin her nursing career.
There she met the love of her life Oliver (Vaughn) Miller (pre-deceased). They were married in 1954 and celebrated their 64th anniversary in 2018. Marge and Vaughn raised 3 children as she continued to work regularly as an obstetric nurse.
She retired in 1993, to spend time with her grandchildren, perform charitable work and watched Vaughn chase that elusive Big Fish! She frequently volunteered for “Reach For Recovery” a breast cancer survivor group and sewed Sojourn Bears for other cancer survivors. She also enjoyed gardening and crocheting.
Marjorie is survived by her children Ronald (Patricia) Miller, Phyllis (Dwayne) Kubacki, Barry (pre-deceased), (Donna) Miller. Grandchildren Kimberly Miller, Kari Miller, Andrew Miller, Julie (Josh) Warren, Katie (Brandon) Price, Lindsey Kubacki, Brittany Miller, Ashley Miller, Chris McLeish, and Liliane Gonzalez.
Due to ongoing concerns regarding the coronavirus, the family has requested a brief outdoor eulogy take place at the gravesite on Friday, March 20, 2020 at 11 AM at the Glen Eden Memorial Park Cemetery, Livonia, Michigan. There will be no public viewing inside the funeral home. The family hopes to have a “celebration of life” memorial gathering later this year.
