Mary Katherine Brown

Mary Katherine Brown, was born Mary Pierce in Detroit, Mi. on July 28, 1941. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, October 9th, 2025 in Waterford, Mi. at the age of 84. 

Mary would often reminisce of childhood memories climbing trees, hopping on trains and graduated from Mckenzie High School in Detroit.  

After graduation, Mary married Barton Leo Brown, (Aug 1938 - Aug 2015) and began their own family & remained married for 56 years until his passing. Several years after raising her children Mary began her career in banking as a teller. She was good at math, very outgoing and liked counting money!

In addition to being a loving wife, mother & bank teller, Mary remained active with bowling, swimming, golf and yoga. Many of her favorite memories were spent on summer camping trips and traveling with family & friends. She also loved going to movies, poker parties and music concerts. Family gatherings and connection with friends was the most important value in her life.

Mary is survived by and (those who passed on) daughter Susan Gilland (spouse Scott) son Marty Brown (deceased) and son Barton V. Brown (spouse Jennifer). Four grandchildren, Derrick Johnson (deceased) Ashley Sarnacki (spouse Caz) Andrea Brown (engaged Peyton) Scarlett Brown and one great grandchild Christopher Sarnacki. 

Public visitation from 10-12. Service begins promptly at 12 noon. Luncheon following TBA
