Maureen Wood age 88, formerly of Westland. Beloved Wife of 66 years to the late John. Cherished Mom of John (Margi), Mike (Monica), Steve, Kate (Rick) Hodges and Mary (Chris) Jonik. Proud GG/Grandma of 16 and Great GG/Grandma of 19 with a bundle of love on the way. Loving Daughter of the late Walter and Rose Shaughnessy. Dearest sister of the late Gloria (Bob) Webb, Mary Lou (John) Lloyd and Patrick. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Maureen attended St. Mary’s of Redford in Detroit, for 12 years, where she made life long friendships. 

Maureen had a warm friendly personality and easily made friends.  Her sense of humor added to her charm and helped her build strong relationships throughout her life.  

As busy as she was raising five children, you could always find her giving back to St. Damian’s in Westland where all five children went to grade school.   She was a member of the Altar Sodality, room mother many years, attended countless field trips, made the hot dogs for “hot lunch Thursday”,  and even coached the softball team for a couple years after her children had graduated from St. Damian’s.

Maureen’s family was everything to her and always came first.    She was a woman of faith and always had her rosary in hand.  Had a countless prayer list  and always willing to add someone.

Maureen asked for so little, but gave so very much.  Her loss is immeasurable to those that loved her most.
