Richard Hottmann passed away September 6th at the age of 86.
Beloved husband of Grace for 60 years until Grace passed in 2022. Loving dad and father-in-law of Kenneth (Vanessa) Hottmann, Andrea (Scott) Yeager, Lisa (Dana) Day, and the late Susan. Cherished papa of Dominic, Chelsea (Chris), Brittany, Amelia, Charlie, and Claire. After the passing of their daughter Susan, Richard and Grace raised Susan’s three children Dominic, Chelsea, and Brittany. Richard served in the Air Force for 4 years, and upon returning home he and Grace were married. Richard and Grace spent a brief time in Boulder, CO where Richard was pursuing a degree in music before returning to Detroit where he worked and retired as a system analyst for the U.A.W. He always supported and encouraged all of his children's and grandchildren’s pursuits. He was known for his sharp mind, quick wit, and his love of Scrabble and Cribbage. After Grace passed, he looked forward to his weekend Scrabble games with his son. He enjoyed watching and talking about the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers depending on which daughter he was talking to. He had a deep passion for all kinds of music. His listening style ranges from classical to folk. Richard loved animals and had many cats and dogs throughout his life with Grace. Richard’s generous and loving nature will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.
