Richard C. (Rick) Shaffner

Shaffner, Richard age 93 formerly of Detroit and Livonia. Cherished husband of Agnes for 71 years. Beloved father of Rick (Sue), Margaret (Bob) Adams and Carol (Mark) Clinton. Proud grandpa of Kristen (Todd) Kerrigan, Erik (Tiffany) Adams, Andrea (Carrston) Powell. Jenny (Joe) McArdle, Lisa (Joel) Kirsch, Shawn (Roz) Adams, Kyle Clinton and Mitch Clinton. Treasured great-grandpa of Brooklyn, James, Owen, Ezra, Finley and Ben. Dearest brother of Malcolm Shaffner and the late Mary Sherwood, Homer Shaffner and Donald Shaffner. Adored Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Also survived by many other loving family and friends. 

Rick retired from Detroit Edison in 1988 after 40 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. His friends and family always commented on his friendly smile and how he would light up a room with his presence. As an amateur clown, Rick entertained many as Checkers. Rick & Agnes have resided at Woodland Village in Brighton, MI since November of 2017.
