Rita Evangelista

Passed away peacefully on February 11, 2022, at her Northville, MI home with her family by her side. She was born November 21, 1923 in Detroit, MI, to Benedetto and Benedetta Franchi. Rita was a loving wife, devoted mother, caring grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. Her priorities were her husband and children. She loved spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals for her family, and cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s company. Rita is survived by her sister Vera Sopko; her 6 children and their spouses, John (Jan) Evangelista; Mary (Steve) Gierak; James (Jill) Evangelista; Nancy Altpeter (Evangelista); Cathy (Jim) Wilson; David  (Kimberly) Evangelista; 18 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, John Evangelista and her brother Reno Franchi.

A private viewing and mass service is scheduled at St Sabina Catholic Church where she and her husband John were founding members.
