Robert Franklin Erpelding
Robert “Bob” Erpelding passed away on January 20, 2020. Bob was 85. Beloved husband of Marguerite “Peggy” Erpelding. Loving father of Laura (Mike) Cox and Robert (Tabitha) Erpelding; and treasured grandfather of Lindsey (Todd) Sanford, Robert (Anna) Erpelding, Sinead Cox, Conor Cox, Rory Cox, Morgan Erpelding, Mason Erpelding, as well as great-granddaughters Grace and Savanna - - and cats Shadow and Muffy. Brother of Charlotte (Donald) Scherer.
Bob was born in Chicago in 1934, moved to Detroit as a child, and enlisted in the Navy in 1951 during the Korean War. He proudly served at sea at as a radarman on the destroyer, the U.S.S Watts. After his honorable discharge, Bob worked for over 30 years on computers for the Burroughs Corporation before beginning his second full-time career as a vintner, model plane designer, builder, and flyer, craft brew drinker, and serious watcher of Hitchcock film noir on TCM, and avid listener of Miles Davis and other jazz masters. He was a good man who by example taught all around him to appreciate the little gifts that God gives us each day. He will be missed.
