Subhash Arya

Subhash Manik Rao Arya, 77, of Redford, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, July 11th, 2020. He was born to parents Manik Rao Arya and Shanti Devi Arya on February 25th, 1943 in Hallikhed Big, Bidar, Karnataka, India. 
Subhash graduated with the highest honors from Osmania University in Hyderabad, India, where he received his Master of Science degrees in Mathematics and Statistics. Following his graduate studies, he came to the United States to further his education at the University of Texas at El Paso. He worked as a Professor of Mathematics and Statistics until his retirement and was beloved by his students and colleagues alike. Subhash was well known for his intelligence, his witty sense of humor, his endless compassion, his huge and generous heart, and his unwavering dedication to his profession - as evidenced by his countless glowing student evaluations.
Subhash was especially fond of his constant and devoted companion of ten years, his beloved Akita dog Raja - and would make regular donations to local animal shelters in honor of his best friend.
Subhash was the cherished husband of Indira Arya, the steadfastly loving Father of Anupa Subhash Arya Trumbo (John), and the infinitely proud Grandfather of Arjun Trumbo. He also leaves behind many loving family members and friends. 
A private service was held on Wednesday, July 15th, 2020, at 3pm at the Fred Wood Funeral Home, followed by a traditional Hindu cremation ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to local animal shelters in honor of Subhash.
