William R. McNamee, 94, of Dearborn, MI (formerly Detroit), passed away after a brief stay in hospice at home on June 17th, 2025. He passed peacefully with his family by his side. William was predeceased by his loving wife, Delphine (Brajczewski) of 61 years, whom he met when they were best man and maid of honor at their friends’ wedding. He is survived by five children: William (Barbara), Karen Wellman (Stephen), Thomas (Pamela), Michael (Deborah), and Lisa Haynes (James); along with ten grandchildren: Ashley (Billy), Sean (Kristin), Megan, Matthew, Colleen, John, Mitchell, Madison, William, and Thomas; as well as four great-grandchildren: Brody, Clare, Emmie, and Miles. Dear brother of Judy (Bill), and the late Dick and Russ. William served in the Army during the Korean War as a Radio Intercept Operator in Hof, Germany. William entered college under the GI Bill and graduated from Michigan State University
with a bachelor’s degree, where he was a resident assistant. He continued his education at the Detroit College of Law where he received his Juris Doctor. He was admitted to practice law in Michigan, Federal Courts, and the United States Supreme Court. He was an Executive Director of Oakland County Legal Aid Society, Assistant Attorney General for the State of Michigan, a Traffic Court Referee for the City of Detroit, and a Magistrate and Judicial Assistant for the 36th District Court. William was a devout Catholic and enjoyed trips to the casinos, horse racing, traveling with friends and family, and reading W.E.B. Griffin novels. He was a Veteran; man of faith, judge; lawyer; husband; father; grandfather, great grandfather; loving family man. He will be missed by many loving family members and friends.
